The best way for a beginner to get started in yoga is to find a class or teacher who can effectively teach how to adapt, adjust, and PROGRESS one step at a time.
We like to think of yoga as a skill, much like playing the piano or cooking soup.
We don’t start in the middle; we start with the basics.
When I started yoga, there were no clear instructions.
I was told to just breathe and be mindful.
But that instruction was not useful.
This is why we need to make yoga work for you.
If the goal of a yoga practice is to FEEL BETTER, we need step-by-step instructions on HOW to stretch, strengthen, mobilize, and use the breath.
