How To Find A Yoga Class

How do you choose a yoga class?

It's okay not to have all the answers at the beginning, especially when you are just starting out and not sure exactly what you want from yoga.

Traditional yoga classes teach poses and often are held in a quiet setting. Sometimes the yoga poses are connected and that is often called “flow”. Sometimes the poses are held a long time and that is called “restorative yoga.

We don't offer "traditional" yoga classes, but feel free to contact me, and I can help you find one.

At the Elevate Practice, we don’t teach any traditional yoga poses, but we do apply yoga's mindfulness to our strength and mobility exercises, which is why so many of our students consider it yoga.

Because yoga is a tool that we use to feel better. More on that here.

The main thing to remember is to consider WHY you want to take a yoga class. If you are looking to feel better, improve flexbility, and work on core strength, our online and in-person classes in Pacifica might be a fabulous fit.

The key to finding a beginner yoga class is to figure out WHY you want to start taking a yoga class!

Once you decide WHY—whether it is to get more flexible, reduce back pain, manage stress, or just feel better in your body—you can look for a good class, teacher, or studio.

I suggest you look for descriptions like 'gentle,' ' basic,' or 'beginner-friendly,' but please contact the teacher or studio and ASK to stop by. This really is the BEST way to find a beginner yoga class.

If you are in the Bay Area and are looking for a beginner yoga class, please check out this video about our classes.

So many of our students came to us looking for a beginner yoga class, and are now building strength and flexbility and most importantly, feeling better.

A moment from our Strength & Length class in Pacifica, California.

What I am trying to say here is that we spend SO much time thinking that if we ONLY were able to do a split, a backbend, or an easy toe touch we would have reached this higher level of being.

Not true.

Thank goodness.
